Prompt: mistaken identity - Everybody Walk the Dinosaur

Gumshoe gets to be a dinosaur. The fic is really funny! It cheered up my day yesterday so I made art to go along with it.



I just can't help seeing Gumshoe as Reptar, especially the scene when Pearl was telling him to lift his leg. In the fic, later on we find out he's actually another kind of dinosaur. Surprise twist!

This is the first art I've ever cel shaded. I even know the correct term for it now. I'm educating myself.

Considering how Oldbag got to be the Pink Princess and Larry the Steel Samurai at one point in canon, the fact Scruffyraptor isn't an actual thing kinda bums me.

Thank you for that fanart, it's a thing of beauty. As soon as I have the right inspiration I'll work on a sequel where Gumshoe's transformation into dinosaur goes a step forward as Pearl and Maya give him the appropriate costume, and maybe the truth about Phoenix's second job is discovered because of another case of mistaken identity.

I don't think there's wonky syntax in that sentence, and if there is (I'm not an expert) the main characters at that point are Gumshoe or Pearl, and neither of them speak that formally.

Oh no, there are going to be a herd of dinosaurs! Woohoo!

Gumshoe definitely needs a crazy second job in canon. Nearly everyone else seems to have one. Even Phoenix was a card sharp for an underground criminal gang.

Heh heh, it will be like a mix between a Jurassic Park convention and a Godzilla one.

Given how he takes care of Missile and his interest in scientific stuff, he can either be the best dog sitter in town or Ema's assistant. Or, given how in 1-5 he shows his artistic talent, how about Larry finding out that he's the famous Gommechaussure, one of the most famous and requested painters around and his greatest rival in the artistic field?

Monsieur Gommechaussure, the celebrated French artist. I love it. His oeuvre mostly consists of paintings of noodles and wriggling blue badgers.

Edit: that's actually in the third game! I'd forgotten.

Gumshoe: There's a lot of weight attached to doing research overseas, you know.
Gumshoe: Once I've done my stint in Paris, you'll have to call me Monsieur Gumchaussure.

I had forgotten about that part too, oh my. I definitely need to finish my replay of T&T then.

Now I like to imagine him with a basque and a scarf, melacholically looking around himself while smoking a cigarette. Also, him and Jean Armstrong should be in a contest to see who has the fakest French accent.
